The developers of this site on Forest Road (at the edge of the reservoirs) held an exhibition and consultation event in April 2016 concerning their proposals. (There was a previous outline planning application for the site approved in 2013.)
We have yet to discuss the proposals as a group, but on first look the new application is a marked improvement on the 2013 proposals. The enlarged public spaces both opposite the reservoir and within the site are welcomed. The landscaping and design intent of the buildings sound encouraging. We were pleased to hear that the architects are working with others designing the wider public realm in the development area, and the fact that the developer is retaining the buildings is hopefully reflected in the build quality and use of the commercial spaces at ground floor.
The council adopted a Blackhorse Road Area Action Plan in January 2015 which sets out policies for the zone from Forest Lane, north.
Work at the adjoining “Mandora” site (that includes an additional storey on Gnome House) has been commenced recently.
